well dang- such an amazing and incredible experience!!! It took me forever to get this photo edited and frankly I wasn’t too happy with it, but now the cropping of IG makes me even less happy with it… this was one of the more difficult shots i have taken, with only 2 minutes to shoot it, a selfie, and then also live in the moment and enjoy the eclipse with my own eyes…I did a good many things wrong and so unfortunately don’t have as great of a shot as I would have liked unless I composited from two different cameras which I didn’t want to do.. if you want to know the honest truth, I was really in it more for the Milky Way on this trip…

This is two images blended together in photoshop; one taken right before the total eclipse from the exact place as the one taken during the eclipse. @matthewsavillephoto & I had hiked down a good 1k to 1.5k ft in elevation from camp to hopefully get the sun close to a ridge.. next time the eclipse should be earlier or later in the day- can someone please talk to someone about that??? 😜😜

I was in a very beautiful place in the Sawtooth Mountains and I had made quite the effort along with my friends to get there… I wanted to shoot this wide field although I did try (unsuccessfully) to change to my 100mm right att the end of the eclipse. this experience makes me want to chase the eclipse in 2024… who else traveled to see it???

PS: did you know that when you buy a brand new canon professional camera, it comes set to JPG? I didn’t know that or figure it out till the last night of the trip, after the eclipse… Food for thought…
