Well I guess you really…

Photo Caption: Well I guess you really can shoot the Milky Way in Vegas.. My friend Bill wanted to shoot last night so we headed out towards Mountain Springs/Lovell Wash area. We had to wait for the Moon to set, and the Milky Way to move away from the Light Pollution of Las Vegas (vegas light bottom left), before it hit the light pollution of Parumph.
This was my final shot of the night at about 415am. Soon after this the sun started rising and the MW started disappearing. It was unlike most nights I’ve shot where I have a lot more time to set my composition; but it wasn’t impossible! I really wanted to see what I could get if I were west of Vegas, which is one of the worst directions to be unless I was NW. I light painted this by stumbling through bushes (I was wrapped in a huge blanket because it was cold last night!) to the left of my camera and quickly turned my headlamp on and then off again.
Every time I shoot- I learn so much. This is my 7th night out for April since the new moon and I have had 6 successful nights of shooting. Did I mention that I’m addicted?? Lol
