I take every opportunity when…

Photo Caption: I take every opportunity when I travel for clients to try and get out to shoot photos… It’s like I’m being paid for my passion (even though I am as I’m here working as a photographer too lol)! I’m up in Vancouver for the week working on fight photography for the gym, @DiazCombatSports and the owner Ryan Diaz is always understanding of my desire to get out of town and shoot photos or adventure.. On this particular trip, I reached out to all the Milky Way Chasers and got some suggestions on where to go.. @see.roy.visualz sent me a direct message with a few suggestions on where to go, and included this lake outside of Vancouver… I had reached out to a long time friend, Cory who I haven’t seen in 11 years.. He was down for the adventure and within a couple hours we were on the road.

Part of this journey included a very steep and pot hole infested road for about 5 miles which we tried to complete before the sun had gone down but due to my timing with work here, wasn’t able to.. We still got there with plenty of light to scope out a composition and take some fun photos of us before heading back to the car to wait for dark..

I have made a habit of starting to shoot 30 minutes before Photopills shows the MW rising.. That means it’s still blue hour when I am doing so at this time of year. It’s a good thing I have this habit because at 8:09 PM, a mere 2 minutes after photopills was showing the rising of the MW, the entire sky was covered in clouds…

I got out of the car at 7:15, then set up my tripod, and started figuring out where to set up my LumeCube.com/160.html (use TRACYLEE for free US Shipping!) I had known from scouting earlier that I wanted to light the roots of the trunks from behind them; it turned out pretty rad! I used a 2nd one on the right side. I started shooting about 7:28 and shot my comps in 10 image increments and kept moving until the sky was clouded out.
