Photo Caption: Last night, alongside @TokinaUSA @SlikUSA & @HoyaFilterUSA I hosted my first OFFICIAL @MilkyWayChasers meet up! I can’t say exactly how many people made it out because we were not quite THAT organized but I’m guessing it was somewhere between 40 & 50 with less than a week’s notice!!

We arrived just before 5pm and set up a table full of giveaways from all 3 companies… It was really great to meet and chat with everyone at that point before heading down to the beach to shoot what ended up being a gorgeous sunset because of the Anaheim Hills fire that was raging.. The same smoke caused shooting the Milky Way to be quite tough for all skill levels who showed up last night…

Everyone dispersed up and down the beach, many people choosing to go the cave route and others choosing from different rock formations.. I wandered up and down chatting with people and helping out with a couple questions here and there.. I went back to the meeting point and set up this shot while I hung out with a few others who were shooting right there…

I barely got set up, focused, and shot 10 images to stack before the smoke had rolled in and covered the Milky Way completely.. It was another 45 minutes before the entire rest of the photographers still on the beach had gathered together for this group shot.. I ended up having to angle my camera down a bit more than the initial sky shot because the wide angle was distorting everyone pretty bad.. I used a speedlight to catch everyone for this shot..

It was REALLY great to meet everyone, and so awesome to hang out and talk to you all.
