Is there a specific comp that has eluded you this season and what is it? For me, this is that comp… I originally found and shot it in April when on the #RoadtoNAB with @bhphoto… but then my hard drive crashed and I lost every photo from this particular night (and I’m sure more that I haven’t discovered as of yet) so I’ve been trying to make it back here to shoot it again. I had friends flake a multitude of times, and scheduling conflicts in my own life made it hard. I went as far as to be in Lone Pine with a friend one night, and then he had to get back in a slight emergency so grudgingly, I drove back to Vegas 4+ hrs after getting skunked the night before on the way TO lone pine.. I finally made it out here with my girl @evmr during #thegreatmilkywaychase2 to shoot and I got about 6 or 7 diff comps that night, and shot this until the battery I had on me ran out which meant I actually didn’t get all of the shots I really wanted to make this image… therefore my focus stack is weak at best and I’m going to have to try this one again next year!!

This is 6 images stacked for the cactus with a long exposure and no foreground light… the middle area/mountains are 10 images stacked with foreground light from a lumecube (bit.ly/tracyleelumecube for 10% off and free US shipping)… and then the sky, we waited exhausted in the cold (yes it was cold there at 330 am in july) trying to sleep on the rocks until alignment, was 20 images stacked… it was a rough part of the evening.. thank you Evelyn for sticking it out with me!!
